Four tips from a Therapist for Folks on Strike:
1. Don't Keep Everything Bottled Up– Consult with your therapist, ask friends or peers if they would be willing to listen and/or offer support.
2. Practice Compassion & Gentleness for Yourself– Have grace after a long day of picketing or raising awareness, be sure to take a break from the pickets or social media if you need it.
3. Focus On What You Can Control– You cannot foretell what day the strike will end. That lack of control is bound to cause anxiety. Instead, try to focus on what you can control. Through collective action & solidarity you ARE creating positive change.
4. Don't Fall Into A Comparison Spiral– Try not to compare yourself to your fellow strikers and how they’re managing during the strike.
